Vital Signs Report 2025 - Social Infrastructure

The report will be released in October 2025.

The 2025 Vital Signs® Focus Report explores how social infrastructure – public spaces that support community and social life – helps foster connection, inclusion, and well-being across Prince Edward County.

Using mapping tools and local data, the report visually highlights how close (or far) residents are to these vital resources, revealing where access supports strong community ties – and where gaps may leave people feeling isolated. By identifying these patterns, the report supports local efforts to build more connected, resilient, and inclusive communities within Prince Edward County.

    Methodology and Sources

    Methodology

Data is drawn from both quantitative and qualitative primary and secondary sources. Statistical data was gathered from a variety of sources at the national, provincial, and municipal levels, as well as from studies conducted by community and regional organizations. GIS (Geographic Information Systems) mapping was used to illustrate demographic patterns and social infrastructure in different parts of the community. Reference sources are listed below.

From the wealth of data surveyed and the input of our Advisory Committee, we carefully chose our areas of study and selected indicators for them based on:

    • availability and consistency of data

    • reputation and reliability of the source

    • how current the data was

    • relevance to our community

    • suitability of the data to be tracked for future comparisons.

Information that is specific to Prince Edward County (PEC); combined with Hastings County (HPE); or with Lennox and Addington County (PELA) is indicated throughout.
