About Vital Signs

Vital Signs® is Canada’s most extensive community-driven data program, led by community foundations and coordinated by Community Foundations of Canada.

Vital Signs uses local knowledge to measure the vitality of a community and support action towards improving collective quality of life.

Vital Signs® data is an ongoing consolidated snapshot of the trends and most vital issues in Prince Edward County.

The purpose is to inform decision-making, support action towards improving our collective quality of life,  and to help direct resources where they will have the greatest impact.

The reports are launched across the country during the first week of October each year and are intended to spark community discussion and inspire community action.
The County Foundation‘s broad networks provide a natural opportunity to engage community members with high levels of social capital. The Foundation’s ongoing work as asset-builders and grant makers gives them a strategic position from which to see trends, challenges, and connections in PEC.

As a lead-up to publication of the second full Vital Signs Report in October 2018, a series of Community Conversations held throughout PEC in late 2017 provided a starting point for identifying current local priorities. The Vital Signs 2018 Report once again presented community knowledge to inspire action on priority issues and ensure that resources are directed where they will have impact.
