2026 Initiatives

The County Foundation and Vital Signs supports community action in many ways—from identifying needs and connecting partners to providing funding, building capacity and supporting community-led initiatives. In 2026, this includes:
Community Safety & Well-being: Supporting data collection, collaborative planning, community consultations and action teams focused on local priorities
ReadyPEC: Building community resilience through emergency preparedness education, practical resources, skills and neighbourhood connections
ThrivePEC & Community Benefits Network: Bringing community, government and business together to advance a shared vision for economic and community development
Supporting Civic Engagement:  Partnering with the municipality to strengthen participation in the 2026 municipal election, with a focus on voter turnout, youth engagement and data- informed Council orientation.

Community Well-being Dashboard
July 2025 - The Community Well-being Dashboard  was released. This collaborative effort brings together local organizations to share real-time data about key measures of community health and well-being. This new resource is a central hub for tracking trends and supporting decisions that help strengthen our community’s well-being.

Vital Signs 2025 Focus Report

October 7 - The 2025 Vital Signs focus report – Social Infrastructure: Access, Connections and Gaps was published.  Using mapping tools and local data, the report visually highlights how close (or far) residents are to these vital resources, revealing where access supports strong community ties – and where gaps may leave people feeling isolated. 

Workshop: See What's Changing. Plan What's Next

November 20 - Vital Signs presented “See What’s Changing. Plan What’s Next” to the Community Safety & Well-being Network—a workshop exploring how demographic shifts are shaping our community and how local data can help guide planning and decision-making.

Announcing the Vital Impact Fund

October 15/24 - The County Foundation is thrilled to announce our new signature fund, the Vital Impact Fund, bringing together the work of our Vital Signs data and our grants to better serve the needs of the Prince Edward County community. 

There will be approximately $200K in grant funding available annually for initiatives focused on addressing the key issues of Vital Signs. Learn more »

Geomapping Project

March 2024 - Vital Signs is collaborating with Fleming College in the development of a geoportal (geographic mapping system). GIS (geographic information systems) link data with maps/locations, providing a more holistic perspective of what and where. GIS can aid in better decision-making and the strategic allocation of resources to areas where they'll have the most impact.
